Derek was a four year letterman at St. Rose High School in Belmar, New Jersey. As the starting catcher Derek led the Purple Rose’s to two consecutive State and Monmouth County Championships.
After high school, Derek went to Olney Central Community College and later transferred to Temple University. Derek served as the starting short stop for Temple in his senior year, where he ranked 11th in Division I baseball for doubles (23). During his tenure Derek was apart of three upset victories against no. 5 Louisville, no. 16 Houston, and no. 24 Virginia Tech. During the summers Derek played for the Wisconsin Woodchucks in the Northwoods League as well as the New Market Rebels in the Valley League.
In 2014, Derek signed his first professional contract to play baseball for the Baltimore Orioles. Over the next three years, he played for four minor league affiliated teams and two stints overseas in the Australian Baseball League where he is the active hit streak leader (25) consecutive games.

An injury in 2016 led to a 6-month rehab stint and an opportunity to intern in baseball operations for the Aberdeen Ironbird’s. His job was to record the games from 4 different angles and report to the coaching staff on how to best implement player development strategies based on the data being recorded. Peterson’s new passion for sports technology and player development led to his transition from player to sports tech entrepreneur.
In 2018 he Co-founded 3P Sports Media and launched the companies first product Baseline Motion™ alongside Jim Duquette and Dr. Glenn Fleisig. Baseline Motion™ is on the cutting edge of personalized training for athletes, the system takes over 10 different movement assessments to pin point and identify the exact exercises you need to do in order to avoid wear and tear injuries as well as maximize your bodies full capabilities.
Derek will be working with Matt Morris to implement Baseline Motion™ into The Baseball Warehouse player development program as well as offer his services for individual and group lessons.
